Previously I wrote about new dreams , today I would like to focus on what is your vision for 2011? Do you even know what a vision is and how can it carry us on our journey to success.
so what exactly is a vision, the free dictionary describes vision as an image, idea, dreams, plans, hopes and conception. These words sound great, however they do not tell you how to go about designing your vision and implementing it or putting it into action. It is all about the action.
2011 has started with a softer edge than that of 2010. Yet so many businesses as well as individuals do not have a clear perspective of what it is that they are wanting to achieve. So by compiling a vision you will get a better understanding of what it is you want and a clear guideline or roadmap if you will how to get their and make the vision become a reality. We need direction in order to stay focused on the results rather than floundering around almost swimming in circles or even repeating last years mistakes or just making it through each month, but what about growth, your clients needs, your needs?
Your vision statement (some like to call it a mission statement) should be clear and to the point of your purpose for offering what you are to your clients and the community. It should mention your core values, be socially meaningful, seem as we are in the hospitality and service industry, also address issues such as moral and ethical position of your salon, public image (on how to assist and support your clients needs and wishes), what message you are offering to clients by way of products and treatments, all these elements will help you to be more profitable through growth. I am sure you do not want to remain running in the same spot as every year, you want to grow just as every one does in society, just remember your reputation and character will stand you in greater stead than money ever will.
Your first consideration should and must be to your own beliefs now I am not talking of being selfish , what I am talking about is helping others, and this includes employees, clients, suppliers, your community at large as well as caring for the environment.
It is after all all about PEOPLE. for without people we can accomplish nothing. In other words treating others with respect, dignity and helping them achieve what they wish to to have a good and happy life.
The vision you have for 2011 can be put into one sentence as some companies have done, however the main issue is that the vision becomes a lifestyle and part of everything you do. I always like to use the following examples as they relate directly to how we serve our clients.
Ì´m lovin it´- McDonalds: putting the passion into our treatments and products and services.
´Connecting people´ - Nokia: don´t we communicate with others to educate them to achieve their desired outcomes or results.
´Just do it´ - Nike: doing it for all the right reasons you became a therapist in the first place.
´To make people happy´- Disney: we need to do this continuously to become top of mind and create that experience over and over one of belonging, value and acceptance.
So just to remind you of the free dictionary element - Every vision requires action, and action words are verbs. Without action to define it, a core value is just a formless concept . . . just a word. It’s what you do with that concept that makes it a mission.´
Visions must include a moral and ethical position you wish to take, strategic influence for the salon, description of treatments and products on what they are offering, as well as expectations of growth and profitability.
Remember it is about serving others and helping them achieve their goals and at the same time giving back by and through character of standing for something ethical as a lifelong commitment such as being committed to products that do not harm people or the environment in fact by being ´Bionome´and ensuring we look after skin as we were meant to do, enhance the skins natural ability to function through the bionome principles of free from chemical ingredients, free from chemical sunscreens, free of mineral oils, free from fragrance, colourants, oxygen, animal derivatives as well as caring for the environment by being free of outer useless packaging that does nothing but be thrown away.
Our vision at Dr Baumann is to help to create a healthier world through the use of safe skin care by means of education, spreading the word of being valuable, contributing members of society.
This translates to change spas and salons from centres of beauty to centres of health and beauty. We are an education and advisory `point`for our customers, regarding nutrition and for recognising and evaluating skincare ingredients that are healthy and safe to use. in other words skin compatible and skin identical as in the case of skinIdent.
The question is what do you want to accomplish in 2011 and How can we at Dr Baumann help you achieve it? Alone it may be difficult, together is always more effective and efficient. Strive, seek and find! Together we can do more. So in closing what is your vision for 2011?
